The Story

Comedian and actor Rel Howery is reportedly set to make his feature directorial debut with a ghost-themed comedy called 'Haunted Heist', according to coverage from Dread Central. The film is described as a ghost comedy, and a trailer has been released ahead of its August debut. Beyond those basic details, the source material does not provide specifics about the plot, cast, production company, or release platform. What is confirmed is that the project marks a notable career step for Howery, who transitions from performer to director with this genre entry. The 'haunting homes this August' phrasing from the source suggests a home-invasion or haunted house premise played for laughs, but that remains characterization rather than confirmed plot detail. For fans of paranormal-themed entertainment, the film appears to blend horror and comedy in a genre sometimes called 'horror-comedy' or 'spooky comedy.' No critical reviews or audience reactions are available from the source material at this time.

Jason's Take

Look, I spend a lot of time taking the paranormal seriously, so I genuinely enjoy seeing it get the comedy treatment once in a while. I don't know much about this one yet beyond the trailer dropping and Rel Howery directing, but I'd be curious to see how they play it. Sometimes a good ghost comedy does more to get people interested in the unexplained than a straight documentary does.
